The number of COVID-19 cases is on the rise in Lakhimpur district. A total of 10 new patients were detected

LAKHIMPUR: The number of COVID-19 cases is on the rise in Lakhimpur district. A total of 10 new patients were detected in the district on Wednesday.

Five out of them have been identified as Bipul Gogoi (33) of Mohbol Tiniali under Dhakuakhana subdivision, Arijit Baruah (21) of Bormuria Tiniali, Nitul Koch (37) of Jiyamoriya under Dhakuakhana subdivision, Debojit Gogoi (25) of Napam village under Lilabari area and Pradip Borgohain of Sapotiya under Dhakuakhana subdivision.

Of them, Bipul Gogoi had no travel history and he just visited the petrol pump located at Gogamukh whose manager tested positive for coronavirus a few days back. On the other hand, Arijit Baruah is the son of Sunu Baruah and Abha Baruah who were detected positive for coronavirus on July 3. Notably, Abha Baruah came in contact with one Bhagyashri Saikia of Ward No. 5 of North Lakhimpur town who tested positive on July 27 after she had come back from Guwahati.

Nitul Koch and Debojit Gogoi are returnees from Hyderabad and they arrived in Lakhimpur on July 4 and July 5 respectively. Pradip Borgohain is an SSB personnel of No. 10 Battalion and he was posted in Srinagar. He also arrived in Lakhimpur on July 5 by flight via Delhi and Guwahati.

In addition to them, five workers who were engaged in the construction of Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital for almost one-and-half months tested positive for coronavirus. They were shifted to the Dedicated COVID Health Centre at Narayanpur Model Hospital.

With these patients, the number of COVID-19 cases has spiked to 162 in Lakhimpur. Out of them, 120 patients were discharged while 48 are active cases.
