Pradip Saikia (Puna), a cultural activist, sculpture of repute and a resident of Khanaguri under Sootea PS breathed his last in the wee hours on Monday due to cardiac arrest at his residence. He was 73. Sculpture Saikia, was closely associated with many socio-cultural organizations of the greater Sootea area and Istantik was one among others. He had initiated a free training centre for the interested youths for sculpture. According to the family source, Saikia suddenly felt unwell late at night and the family members took him to hospital but he was declared dead. His demise was widely mourned.
