Naharkatia: As per the directive of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India, the Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA), in association with Oil India Ltd and other petroleum companies, has been observing SAKSHAM-2020 since January 16. It will conclude on February 15.
This is a month-long mass awareness drive with the objective of involving citizens to actively participate in fuel conservation for health and environmental protection and simultaneously help in reducing India’s dependency on import of crude oil.
SAKSHAM-2020 at OIL’s Field Head Quarter, Duliajan was inaugurated by Pranjit Deka, Resident Chief Executive, OIL, in presence of senior officials of OIL and employees. During the inaugural programme, a pledge-taking ceremony was held which was followed by distribution of SAKSHAM-2020 booklets, car stickers and publicity posters. The programme concluded with formation of human chain by OIL employees at FHQ to create awareness about fuel conservation, health and environment.
During the observance of SAKSHAM-2020, various programmes were held such as cycle rally, walkathon and emission checking of vehicles and equipment. A ‘Saksham Cycle Day’ was organized by Oil India Ltd last month which started from Nehru Maidan, Duliajan at OIL township.
A walkathon was organized by OIL on February 2 which was actively participated by over 350 people from in and around Duliajan. A ‘Free Emission Testing of Vehicles’ was organized at Bihutoli, Duliajan on February 9 with the objective of providing free emission testing of vehicles. As part of SAKSHAM-2020, OIL had also organized an emission checking drive of petroleum consuming equipment at 12 OIL installations recently.
