DIBRUGARH: Oil India Limited (OIL) was conferred with the Apex India Foundation Award, 2019 'Platinum Award' under Livelihood Creation for project OIL Jeevika and 'Gold Award' under Women Empowerment for Project OIL Arogya in Petroleum Exploration Sector.
Apex India Foundation had organized the Virtual Award Ceremony of 'Apex India Green Leaf Awards 2019' and 'Apex India CSR Excellence Awards 2019' in New Delhi recently to award those companies and individuals who have achieved excellence in various areas of environment protection, occupational safety and health of workers, women empowerment, and skill upgradation at different levels, an OIL press statement stated.
The programme in New Delhi was graced by Laxmi Narayan Tripathi, human rights activist, Baldev Bhai G. Prajapati, national president of Laghu Udyog Bharti, Kuldeep Singh, president of Apex India Foundation, and other dignitaries. The award was ceremoniously handed over to Dilip Kumar Das, Resident Chief Executive, Field Head Quarter at Duliajan by the CSR team of OIL headed by Trideeb Saikia, General Manager (Public Affairs).
OIL Jeevika is Northeast India's first induced community-cluster based sustainable rural livelihood project. The project aims at providing backward and forward linkages to the targeted beneficiaries on two economic activities - beekeeping and honey processing, and mustard, buckwheat and local pulses processing. OIL Jeevika focuses on enhancing the production and marketing skills of the beneficiaries through robust in field training, exposure visits, scientific and material inputs while also focusing on value added production from honey, mustard, buckwheat and local pulses.
OIL Arogya project aims at reduction of IMR and MMR in OIL's operational areas. The project currently includes pre and post-natal health check-ups, sensitizing women on maternal, child health and benefits of institutional delivery, tracking and counseling of pregnant women, immunization of babies and pregnant women, training in and awareness on first aid, nutrition, community health for better health and hygiene, sanitation and family planning with focus on menstrual health and hygiene management.
