One dies of COVID; Cases surge in Jamugurihat

JAMUGURIHAT: Karun Nath (63), a resident of Jamidar Chook and a retired teacher of Cheuni Chook LPS, breathed his last on Thursday due to COVID. Notably, his brother Chandra Nath also died of COVID on Tuesday. With this, the COVID death tally reached two in Jamugurihat.

More than 110 COVID positive cases have been detected in Jamuguri Subsidiary Hospital, Rangachakuwa PHC under Uttar Jamuguri PHC. During this crucial time, some people are seen violating COVID protocol and SOPs issued by the government. To rein in the COVID violators, the Jamuguri police and the local administration have taken rapid action against the violators of COVID protocol.

Akash Deep Kakaty, the Naduar Circle Officer, and Pranjal Kumar Nath, officer in-charge of Jamuguri PS, along with a team of police, had carried out lathicharge at Jamuguri weekly market and Jamuguri commercial centre to control the crowd.

COVID positive cases are on the rise in the Sootea area too. More than 60 COVID positive cases were detected in different screening centres of the Sootea area. Rudra Maya Newar of Balijuri under Sootea PS succumbed to COVID on Wednesday.
