One gets lifer for rape and murder of minor of Goalpara district

GOALPARA: The special judge of Goalpara district court, S. Dhar on Friday sentenced Srinuj Urang alias Kalu Munda to lifetime imprisonment for rape and murder of minor girl.

The case can be traced back to the year 2018 at the Simlitola tea garden under the Rongjuli police station. The culprit had lured the victim with Rs 20 to a nearby field and after raping her, had killed her. Later, when her body was recovered, the culprit tried to flee and leave the State.

However, with the strong initiative of the district police and especially by then Superintendent of Police, Amitava Singha and OC of Rongjuli police station, Nitai Ray, the criminal was brought to book.

On Friday, Sanjay Sarma, advocate for the victim and the family members of the deceased, expressed satisfaction over the judgment. The judgment was pronounced under the IPC Sections 302/376 (A, B) and Section 6 of POCSO Act.
