TEZPUR: Based on the listing of online courses offered through massive open online course (MOOC) platforms, an online course designed by Prof. Subhrangshu Sekhar Sarkar of Tezpur University (TU) has been ranked as one of the 'Best Online Courses of All Time' by Classcentral.com.
Class Central is an international aggregator for the listing of online courses. It focuses primarily on free courses from universities, offered through massive open online course (MOOC) platform. Class Central aggregate courses from many providers to make it easy to find the best courses on almost any subject, wherever they exist.While preparing the list for 'Best Online Courses of All Time', the feedback received from learners are given prominence with due weightage.
The course titled 'Direct Tax Laws and Practice' offered in MOOCs platform has been published at https://www.classcentral.com/collection/top-free-online-courses?subject=social-sciences. The course approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) is offered globally through SWAYAM platform that facilitates hosting of all the courses taught in classrooms from Class 9 till post-graduation to be accessed by anyone, anywhere at any time for the last three consecutive semesters with enrolment of more than 5,000 learners in each of the semesters.
There are altogether 18 courses under 'Social Sciences' category offered by different top universities of the world viz. Kellogg School of Management, Princeton University, Harvard University, Yale University, NUS Business School etc., which are considered for the inclusion in the list. Classes for the next semester will start from January 4, 2021. Students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate courses, who are interested to study the direct taxation system of India as well as professionals, lifelong learners may also enroll for the course by visiting the SWAYAM website (www.swayam.gov.in) of the Government of India, or the course link https://onlinecourses.swayam2.ac.in/cec21_cm02/preview. On successful completion of the course, learners are eligible for a certificate as well as credit transfer, as per the UGC Regulations, 2016 by Tezpur University.
