GOLAGHAT: Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic situation, another issue has drawn the attention of the people. It is coal mining in Dehing Patkai Wildlife Sanctuary.

Several naturalists and organizations have raised their voice against this. Now the alumni of a premier educational institution in Golaghat have come up to protest against this. The 2004 matriculation batch of Kushal Konwar Balya Bhawan School in Golaghat was seen protesting against coal mining at Dehing Patkai Wildlife Sanctuary. An open letter to Prime Minister has been written by the batch demanding to stop the coal mining at Dehing Patkai and to preserve its rich bio diversity. In the letter they thanked the Prime Minister for his able leadership in the fight against the dreaded pandemic.
