Operation against drugs, liquor and cattle smuggling continues in Dhubri district and in the last two days, five persons were arrested in different cases of smuggling.

DHUBRI: Operation against drugs, liquor and cattle smuggling continues in Dhubri district and in the last two days, five persons were arrested in different cases of smuggling.

A person identified as Ainul Hussain was arrested with 400 gm ganja from Gaurangnagar under Chapor police station of Dhubri district while a drug peddler, Rajib Sheikh was arrested with 36 cough syrup bottles and 896 Pyevon capsules from Botertala near the railway level crossing of Dhubri town on Thursday.

In a raid conducted in the shop of one Ashok Barman in Salkocha Bazar under Chapor Police Station of the district, police recovered 220 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor on Friday and Barman was arrested.

On the other hand, two persons were arrested by police with 9 cattle and 5 buffaloes in Bilasipara and Golokganj areas on Friday.

Also, while searching a truck, Sagolia Police of Dhubri district seized more than 17,000 Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) bottles. Police sources informed that the truck was carrying the IMFL in around 600 cartons concealed behind bags of corn. The estimated market price of the seized bottles will be around Rs 15 lakh, sources added.
