Organizations condole death of former CM Tarun Gogoi

The demise of former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi was widely mourned.

JAMUGURIHAT: The demise of former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi was widely mourned. Many socio-cultural organizations of Jamugurihat and Sootea as well as Sootea MLA Padma Hazarika condoled the demise of the three-time Chief Minister of Assam.

MLA Padma Hazarika, while recalling the fond memories, said that the historic Barechahariya Bhaona was a grand success only because of the help received from Tarun Gogoi. He termed his demise as an irreparable loss to the political as well as social life of Assam. He prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members. The Barechahariya Bhaona committee president, Bhaba Goswami termed Gogoi's demise as not only a political loss but a loss to the socio-cultural life of Assam. Srimanta Sankardev Nam Dharma Samaj's president and secretary Dinesh Mahanta and Srimanta Bhuyan respectively, and State secretary (admin) of Goriya Moriya Deshi Jatiya Parishad, Moinul Islam condoled Gogoi's demise.

Asom Nepali Sahitya Sabha (ANSS) also condoled the demise of the veteran political leader. In a condolence message, Durga Khatiwora and Rudra Baral, president and secretary of the literary body, said that Tarun Gogoi had contributed a lot towards all-round development of the State. "It is an irreparable loss to the field of politics and the State at a large. We pray for the eternal peace of the departed soul and convey our condolences to the bereaved family," stated a press release.
