GOALPARA: A two-day orientation programme on ‘Child Protection Mechanism with special focus on Legal Adoption and Child Marriage’ was organized recently at the office of the District Child Protection Officer (DCPO), Goalpara.
The programme was organized in connection with the ‘Suroxito Xaishab, Sonali Axom: A 90-day campaign on Child Protection’ by the Assam Government. Participated by the ASHA workers, supervisors and ANMs, the meeting thoroughly discussed the necessity of taking special care of children’s physical and mental growth, besides ensuring overall protection.
Mostafa Hussain, DCPO, Pranati Nath, i/c PO (NIC), Safin Alam, counselor and Jayashri Kalita from DCP unit spoke at length on child marriage and child protection mechanism along with legal adoption. On the other hand, D.Goswami, DCM, and S.Ahmed Lasker, PO, from the NHM presented a detailed scenario of children’s mental and physical health in the district.
