Orientation programme “Monor Prithvi Gorhu” held in Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH: We For You, an NGO, organized an orientation programme, “Monor Prithvi Gorhu” under CSR initiative of BCPL to improve mental health and well-being of children and adolescents in schools and hostels at Dibrugarh district library on Thursday. As part of the initiative, We For You is partnering with district administration and Samagra Shiksha, Dibrugarh and mental health experts to provide training and resources to teachers and staff in government schools and hostels. The programme began with the welcome speech by Bornali Mohan, Assistant Secretary, followed by felicitation of the guests.

Speaking about the programme, Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu said, “We recognize that the mental health and well-being of our children and adolescents are critical to their overall development and success. We hope this initiative will provide necessary support and resources to ensure that all students in government schools and hostels can thrive both academically and personally.”

Alak Baruah GM, BCPL said that this initiative is committed to address the mental health needs of children and is working to ensure that all students in government schools and hostels have access to the resources and support they need to succeed.

The resource person of the event Dr Rabindar Singh, Occupational therapist and Director of Assam Rehabilitation centre gave an important session focussing on mental health illness like autism, ADHD, therapy sessions, on stress management and resilience building to the teachers who attended the event.

Dr NP Pakma, clinical psychologist-cum-school counselor, Shillong and K Ramaiah, counselling Psychologist from Hyderabad, have added their valuable words for the participants on an online platform. Ajit Borgohain, president of Bar Association Dibrugarh, explained how legal support can be helpful in mental well-being among children and adolescents.

The event was also attended by Binti Sharma, Inspector of Schools. She said, “Teachers and educators including RPs are needed to join hands to identify the children who need mental support. DPO Monima Bhattacharya, also asked everyone to give their efforts to create a healthy environment in schools.”
