Orientation programme on inclusive education underway in Lakhimpur

A four-day long orientation programme on inclusive education covering the Anganwadi workers and teachers has been underway in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: A four-day long orientation programme on inclusive education covering the Anganwadi workers and teachers has been underway in Lakhimpur under the auspices of inclusive education resource persons Pankaj Hazarika and Dipak Saikia. The orientation programme has been organized by Inclusive Education, Samagra Siksha Abhiyan, Lakhimpur Education Block under the supervision of Block Education Officer (BEEO) Binod Morang.

The first day session of the programme was held at Lakhimpur Girls' Higher Secondary School on Thursday. The ICDS supervisors under Lakhimpur Development Block and 300 Anganwadi workers took part in the event as trainees.

The event was inaugurated by BEEO Binod Morang. Child Development Project Officer Birinchi Chandra Borah, Lakhimpur District Inclusive Education Programme Officer Gunajit Thakuriya were present in the inaugural session as guests of honour. In the event resource person Pankaj Hazarika, Dipak Saikia and Rejuwan Ulla conducted training on the 21 types of disabilities as defined by Right of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act, 2016 along with the method of identifying such disabilities and the government schemes meant for the Persons with Disabilities (PwD). The second day session of the programme will also be held at the same venue on Friday while 3rd day session will be held at Kadam MV School on May 7. On the other hand, 4th day session of the programme will be held at Rupahi Girls ME School on May 9.
