Orientation programme on nursing profession held under chairmanship of BTC Chief Pramod Boro

 KOKRAJHAR: An orientation programme on opportunities in Japan for nursing professionals was held under the chairmanship of BTC Chief Pramod Boro at the CEM conference hall on Monday. The government of BTC in collaboration with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and Government of India is sponsoring candidates for obtaining the specified skill worker permit enabling them to work as nursing professionals in Japan.

While outlining the objective of the programme, BTC Chief Pramod Boro highlighted the advantages of working in Japan in terms of the work environment, adequate remuneration, and a world-class working environment. The programme will be supported by the Skill PMU, the department of Health BTC, and the Bodoland SEED Mission.

Boro explained the emphasis given by the Government of BTR to enhance the employability and skills of the youth of BTC through a series of programmes in multiple sectors being undertaken in a phased manner. The Bodoland SEED Mission which launched last year has already completed the skill mapping of the various youth in all the districts of BTR.

The framework for the one year language training to be conducted by NSDC International Language Centre was explained by the officials of NSDC International, the nodal agency for such training programmes. Various participants and aspiring candidates from different districts attended the orientation programme. The Skill PMU Project Manager Uttam Kumar Brahma mentioned that similar orientation programmes will be undertaken in all districts of BTR before finalizing the first batch of candidates. Already, nine candidates have been selected for the programme after verification of the necessary eligibility criteria. Brahma said that the cost of training including all other expenses will be sponsored by BTC.

Shiladitya Sarkar, Regional Engagement Officer of NSDC, Dr. Umesh Pancho, Director of Health, Bodoland Territorial Council, Pratibha Brahma, Chairperson of Kokrajhar Municipal Board were among the officials who were present in the meeting.
