BISWANATH CHARIALI: The outsourced commission-based metre readers of Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd (APDCL) under Chariali Electrical Division, Biswanath Chariali have urged the State Government to regularize their posts.
In a memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister during his recent visit to Biswanath Chariali, as many as 11 such metre readers said that they had been working in Chariali Electrical Division for the last 7-15 years. They alleged that they had also submitted their experience certificates and payment vouchers in the office of Tezpur Circle, yet they were debarred from appearing in the recruitment examination conducted by APDCL.
The workers also approached the Chief General Manager, APDCL, DGM of Tezpur Electrical Division and AGM of Biswanath Electrical Division seeking engagement in the present posts. But the efforts have proved futile so far, the workers alleged, for which it has become difficult for them to support their families.
