DHUBRI: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator Ashok Kumar Singhi from Bilasipara (East), in an interaction with media persons at Chapor of Dhubri district, claimed that over one lakh people benefited under various welfare schemes in the last five years.
Singhi said that a massive socio-economic transformation had taken place in his constituency due to various welfare schemes initiated by the State and Central governments. Apart from that, Dhubri district being one of the 117 aspirational districts of the country, various innovative schemes and projects got implemented and were being continued in order to uplift the socio-economic condition of the people, along with a massive infrastructural development in all the sectors, focusing particularly on education, agriculture, health, communication and skill development, Singhi said.
He claimed that what the Congress could not do in the Bilasipara East constituency despite decades of rule at the Centre and in the State, he had done in his five-year term.
"Over 30,000 LPG connections were given, 12,000 toilets constructed, 20,000 electric power connection provided, around 17,000 people got benefited under the Arunoday scheme, 3,700 people were enrolled in Old-Age pension scheme, 1,800 under widow pension, 2,500 scholarships were given, 2,000 people got medical benefits, 6,700 houses were constructed in urban areas under PMAY, 6,000 houses in rural areas, 3,000 farmers got Rs.5,000 and Rs. 6000 in two installments, 100 tractors and agricultural equipment were distributed among farmers," Singhi further said. Many farmers were also given seeds and fertilizer, he added.
