Over 4.57 lakh people reeling under flood in Nagaon

NAGAON: The flood situation in Nagaon district has turned to be more critical as fresh areas under 7 revenue circles have been submerged by the flood water.

As per a report issued on Tuesday by district disaster management authority, Nagaon, over 310 villages under Kampur, Raha, Nagaon, Dhing, Samaguri, Rupahi and Kaliabor revenue circles are still reeling under flood water. Even in Nagaon town, the flood water from the Kolong River has inundated over a hundred of families in Nagaon Milanpur, Baidatup, Nehrubali, Uttar Haiborgaon, Madhupur and Police Reserve area are reeling under flood water.

Over 4.57 lakhs people have been affected grievously by the flood in the district during the second wave of flood and over 15,000 inmates are taking shelter in over 57 relief camps set up in Kampur, Raha and Nagaon revenue circles by the district administration so far.

The water level of the Kapili river has been slightly down today while the water level of the Kolong river remains unchanged till the time of filing this report.

Under Dabaka Revenue Circle in the Jamunamukh area more than 20,000 people have been affected by second wave of flood.
