80+ Opposition members from Cong, CPI (M) & others joined BJP in Biswanath

After 30 members from the Opposition parties joined BJP on December 19 in West Karbi Anglong, 80 people including members of Cong and CPI (ML) joined BJP in Biswanath on Sunday

Biswanath: Ahead of the Assam Assembly elections, 2021, more than 80 people from opposition members belonging from of Congress, the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) (CPI-ML) & others joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in a meeting held at Behali, Biswanath district of Assam on Sunday (December 20).

The meeting was held at Pub Jinjia village of Biswanath where the opposition members from CPI - ML and general people joined BJP in presence of the senior cabinet minister of the state and MLA of Behali constituency Ranjit Dutta.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister Dutta welcomed all the joinees and urged upon them to strengthen the structure and foundation of the saffron party.

Earlier on Saturday (December 19) in a mass joining programme held at Jaluk-Langteng playground in West Karbi Anglong district of Assam as many as 30 opposition members— 4 from the Congress of Lang-Ang village, 21 Congress members of Jaluk-Langteng village and 5 ASDC members joined BJP.

In the meeting, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council executive member and in-charge of PHE department Prodip Rongpi welcomed the new members to the saffron party and said that there is no new and old in the BJP party but all are part of the same family and all will be provided with a new platform to express themselves freely and share their views with other co-workers.

According to a report, Assam BJP leader and MLA Numal Momin said that sitting Congress MLA from Golaghat, Ajanta Neog and few other Congress MLAs and leaders are likely to join the saffron party during Union Home Minister Amit Shah's visit to Assam on December 26, 2020.

With Assam Assembly Elections getting closer, news of people joining BJP is pouring in from several parts of Assam.

Elections to the 126-seat Assam Assembly is scheduled to take place next year by April.
