Panchabati Duara, First Woman Announcer of AIR Guwahati Passes Away At 94

Guwahati: Panchabati Duara, who was the first woman announcer of All India Radio Guwahati has passed away. She was 94 years old. She belonged to the first batch of announcers of AIR Guwahati.

This news was shared by AIR News Guwahati on their official Twitter handle. The tweet read, "Panchabati Duara, who was in the first batch of announcers of AIR Guwahati and the first woman announcer passed away in Guwahati today. She was 94."

She was an avid reader of books and journals.

Established in 1936, All India Radio (AIR) is a division of Prasar Bharati. It is India's national public radio broadcaster. It has been called "Akashvani" since 1957. It has its headquarters in the Akashvani Bhawan building in New Delhi.

As the largest radio network in the world, All India Radio is also one of the largest broadcasting organisations in the world in terms of the number of languages broadcast and the spectrum of socio-economic and cultural diversity it serves.
