Parimal Suklabaidya laid foundation stones of seven piped water supply schemes in Silchar

Minister for Forest & Environment, Fisheries and Excise, Parimal Suklabaidya on Tuesday laid the foundation stones of seven piped water supply schemes (PWSS) under Pradhan Mantri Jal Jeevan Mission in his constituency Dholai in southern Assam’s Cachar district of Barak Valley.

SILCHAR: Minister for Forest & Environment, Fisheries and Excise, Parimal Suklabaidya on Tuesday laid the foundation stones of seven piped water supply schemes (PWSS) under Pradhan Mantri Jal Jeevan Mission in his constituency Dholai in southern Assam's Cachar district of Barak Valley.

The Minister laid the foundation stones for retrofitting PWSS worth Rs.42.75 lakh at Ramprasadpur under Dholai Gaon Panchayat, PWSS worth Rs. 47.56 lakh at Jibangram GP, Nandagram PWSS at Rukni GP amounting to Rs.55.10 lakh, Darmikhal PWSS worth Rs. 37.55 lakh, PWSS at Jamalpur Sajaldhara worth Rs. 41.80 lakh, Ganganagar PWSS at Bhuvanhil Gaon Panchayat worth Rs 65.55 lakh and PWSS at Darmikhan GP at an estimated cost of Rs.64.60 lakh in the presence of PHE officials and Gram Panchayat members.

During the Foundation stone ceremony, Minister Suklabaidya praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his vision of Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas and for implementing the ambitious Pradhan Mantri Jal Jeevan Mission in rural areas. He said by the year 2024 all the people living in rural areas will get piped water supply at their home. He also said many laudable initiatives were taken up by the last government for the development of rural infrastructure as well as for the welfare of common man and during the present tenure of Himanta Biswa Sarma led Government, people are also deriving benefits.

Suklabaidya also asked the officials to ensure high quality work and directed the Panchayat members, Zila Parishad members and PHE officials to complete the projects within the stimulated time frame. He also urged the youth of the valley to carry forward the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' to build a self reliant India and self reliant Assam.
