Parul Devi Das, Assam's First Lady IAS Officer Dies from COVID

Guwahati: Assam's first lady IAS officer, Parul Devi Das succumbed to COVID-19 on Monday. She was undergoing treatment at the Apollo Hospital, Guwahati.
Das was Assam's Additional Chief Secretary and she was the daughter of former Assam Minister Ramnath Das.

As Kamrup (M) tops the chart with 6,026 active cases while Kamrup (R) shares the second spot with 1,032 cases, Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that 14 deaths have been recorded as of April 25 and Kamrup Metropolitan with Guwahati as its leading city registered 815 number of COVID cases. The positivity rate stands at 3.24%.
Meanwhile, Assam as of Sunday reported 1844 fresh COVID-19 cases taking the active caseload to 15,470. The highest cases have been reported from the districts of Kamrup Metro with 791 cases followed by Dibrugarh at 190, Nagaon at 83, and Kamrup Rural at 82. 14 deaths have been reported from the state with 8 cases from Kamrup Metro and 1 each from Barpeta, Dibrugarh, Kamrup Rural, Morigaon, Nalbari, and Sonitpur, taking the total death toll to 1200. Assam has a surplus of 40 MT of oxygen. The state has 61MT of oxygen supply and currently using around 20 MT. It is to be mentioned here that Assam has 8 government-owned oxygen plants and 4 private sector plants- which are - Oxygen plants in Bongaigaon, Dimapur, Bhutan, and Meghalaya. Further, 3 more would be added by April end which will be in-house at private hospitals.
