Passport Mela to be held on October 30 in Silchar

In a first of its kind drive to clear pending applications for passports, Cachar Police is organising a ‘Passport Mela’ on October 30.

SILCHAR: In a first of its kind drive to clear pending applications for passports, Cachar Police is organising a 'Passport Mela' on October 30. The programme would start at 10 am at the SP office premises, informed SP Numal Mahato in a press meet. Almost 1,500 applications for passports are reportedly pending for police verification. District police had already issued notice to the applicants to attend the 'Mela' with requisite documents.

Mahato said, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had asked the police administration to expedite all the pending works related to service to the people. He said, a huge number of applications were pending in the district because of various infrastructure lacunae. To sort out this problem he had taken the step, Mahato added.
