DIBRUGARH, Jan 16: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that peace and harmony had been the hallmark of the present BJP-led State Government as the government had plunged itself in transforming Assam into one of the top five performing States of the country using the harmonious coexistence of all sections of the people of the State.
Speaking at the inaugural function of Tengakhat Police Station, which has been built under MOITRI scheme, at a function held at Tengakhat in Dibrugarh district on Friday, Chief Minister Sonowal said that the BJP-led State Government had been able to strengthen peace and harmony in the State. He also said that as against the regime of the Congress government where group and ethnic clashes had taken the toll on the State, the present BJP-led State Government had been successful in strengthening peace, tranquility and harmonious coexistence among all sections of the people of the State. He also said that under the present BJP government, no clash in the name of caste, creed and ethnicity had been reported from any part, as all sections of the people were coordinating with the efforts of the government in making the State progressive and prosperous.
Attributing the present improved law-and-order condition in the State to the professionalism and dedication of Assam Police, Chief Minister Sonowal said that with the help of the sound law-and-order condition prevailing in the State and the existing peace and harmony and all the developmental schemes, the State Government was in the process of transforming Assam into one of the five most developed States of the country. Expressing his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sonowal said that it was because of the leadership of the Prime Minister that initiatives were taken to upgrade the police stations of the State under the MOITRI scheme.
"It is because of this scheme, police stations have been upgraded, police forces have been modernized and protection of lives and properties of the people of the State have been made possible in a more professional way than ever before," he said. He also said that it was because of the diligence and dedication of the State police that dignity of women had been ensured, crime against weaker and marginalized sections had been curtailed, poaching of the famous one-horned rhinoceros had stopped and overall law-and-order situation had improved. The Chief Minister also said that technological intervention was another cornerstone of the MOITRI scheme.
