Pen-down strike by non-teaching staff of degree colleges begins

KOKRAJHAR: The non-teaching staff of Bodofa UN Brahma College, Dotma in Kokrajhar along with the rest of the State joined the four days pen-down strike beginning on Tuesday, demanding regularization of their services. The pen-down programme was brought out by the All Assam Degree College Non-Teaching Employees’ Association.

All the non-teaching staff of UN Brahma College, Dotma joined the pen-down strike while non-teaching staff of 33 degree colleges of Assam started their strike from Tuesday to demand regularization of services. The employees of the UN Brahma College stayed away from working duty but joined the sit-in-strike in the premises of the college.

The employees of UN Brahma College, Dotma told before the media persons that in 2021, the Government of Assam regularized the services of teachers of 33 provincialized degree colleges of Assam but till date, the services of non-teaching staff have not been regularized. They said that as many as 297 non-teaching employees of 33 degree colleges of Assam were deprived of regularization. They also said they will not work until September 8 as a mark of protest against the apathy towards them.
