GOALPARA: The internationally acclaimed food and beverage company PepsiCo, through its PepsiCo foundation and in partnership with the Smile Foundation, has begun its programme 'Give Meals, Give Hope' in Goalpara district on Saturday.
'Give Meals, Give Hope' has been launched nationwide by the company aimed at providing a helping hand to those underprivileged who are facing tremendous hardship due to COVID-19 lockdown.
The programme was formally flagged off by Varnali Deka, Goalpara Deputy Commissioner, in the presence of the company and foundation representatives. "The foundation desired to extend their helping hand in our district and we facilitated them so that the deserving and underprivileged people receive the benefit. We also welcome the other voluntary associations in this regard. However, the Goalpara district administration has already taken adequate measures by providing relief materials and arranging health sanitation for the affected people," said Varnali Deka.
On Saturday, the foundation distributed food kits in East Goalpara's Rakhyasini and Dolgoma area. On the other hand, on Sunday, the food kits were distributed among the people of Lakhipur area of West Goalpara under the supervision of Ashraful Amin, ADC on disaster management charge. He informed that 200 selected beneficiary families would be provided with one month's ration under this scheme.
