An order issued by the Additional District Magistrate on April 23 said that in view of the rising COVID-19 cases in the district, all the permissions issued earlier by them for organizing functions of Bihu, Bwisagu, and mela were canceled due to the urgency of the present COVID-19 situation in the district. Along with appealing to the people for strict maintenance of COVID-19 protocol, the order further stated that any person violating this order would face action as per provisions of the Section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, and legal action under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code and other legal provisions as applicable.
