Guwahati: In Assam, a number of great politicians have sat in Chief Minister's seat, but the incumbent Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma seems to have amazing magical power.
The popularity of the Chief Minister cannot understand with a recent photo by Minister Piyush Hazarika which has taken everyone by surprise.
Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Hazarika recently shared a photo of an auto and tweeted, ''I am politically involved since 1991, both directly and indirectly! I have never seen this kind of popularity in a Chief Minister! @himantabiswa sir is an inspiration. So, proud to serve him in his Cabinet.''
Many of us are aware of the fact that Assam Chief Minister is fondly addressed as Mama (Maternal Uncle) by the youths of the state. Sarma too seems to be enjoying his new roles besides being one of the most admired and appreciated Chief Ministers of the state.
His popularity is such that he has also been rated as the most popular Chief Minister in India in a survey conducted by Ormax Media.
Sarma had bagged the top spot, while Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is in the second spot with a rating of 64 and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee bagged the third spot with a rating of 63.
He emerged in the top Slot beating several other big names among the Chief Ministers in the country.
Apart from this, last month, Sarma was ranked 32 amongst the most powerful Indians in the list of 100 most powerful leaders conducted by The Indian Express.
''The BJP's most powerful chief minister in the Northeast; he is seen as the dean of the political circuit there. Known for his controversial remarks, he brings to the table clout that transcends the party's core vote base,'' the Indian Express said.
Sarma is the 15th Chief Minister of Assam and was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Assam on May 10, 2021, succeeding his colleague Sarbananda Sonowal.
Ever since he was sworn in as Chief Minister, he played a significant role in establishing the state on the path of progress and prosperity.
