Guwahati: Two forest guards were attacked by picnickers in Nagaon's Laokhowa Wildlife Sanctuary area.

The incident took place when these two forest guards named Jahirul Islam and Pappu Patar tried to intervene in picnicker's fight, who were fighting among themselves after being drunk.

Following this, a few drunken youths attacked the forest officials and left them injured.

"We tried to interrupt them from creating a law and order situation as a lot of people were getting involved in the fight," said one of the forest guards.

However, the intervention didn't go well and the youths attacked them.

Meanwhile, both the guards are now being treated at a medical centre and an FIR has also been registered in this regard.

The police have also launched a manhunt to nab the culprits involved in this attack.
