Picnickers flock hotspots despite strict guidelines in Kokrajhar district

The picnic hotspots of Kokrajhar district are flooded with picnickers despite the district administration's strict guidelines and intensification of massive checking on drinking and driving.

KOKRAJHAR: The picnic hotspots of Kokrajhar district are flooded with picnickers despite the district administration's strict guidelines and intensification of massive checking on drinking and driving.

The picnic spots like Diplai Beel, Dheer Beel, Gaurang Park, Jomduar, Pepsu, Longa, Laothi, Saralpara etc. are seen with hundreds of picnic teams and visitors. People are seen enjoying paragliding, boating and riding in Dheer Beel besides merry making with different roasted and burnt meats available in the picnic spots. Most of the picnickers are seen consuming alcohol. The police patrolling teams with breath analysers are monitoring the situation at the spots. As the district administration is keeping a strict vigil issuing strict guidelines, there have been no reports of severe accidents so far. The rash driving of youths which was common in Kokrajhar is seen declining due to massive checking.
