Pijush Hazarika inaugurated Anti-rabies vaccination camp for stray/community animals at Tezpur University

Guardian Minister of Sonitpur district Pijush Hazarika inaugurated an anti-rabies vaccination-cum-treatment camp for stray/community animals at Tezpur University. The minister was attending Sonitpur Zila Divas which was organized by the district administration of Sonitpur.

TEZPUR:  Guardian Minister of Sonitpur district Pijush Hazarika inaugurated an anti-rabies vaccination-cum-treatment camp for stray/community animals at Tezpur University. The minister was attending Sonitpur Zila Divas which was organized by the district administration of Sonitpur.

The vaccination camp was organized by Animal Welfare Club, Tezpur University in collaboration with Rotary Club of Tezpur, District Administration Sonitpur, and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary department of Sonitpur district. During the occasion, five mobile veterinary ambulances were also inaugurated. Furthermore, the Animal Welfare Shelter of Tezpur University donated by district administration, Sonitpur and Rotary club of Tezpur was also launched by the minister.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Shambhu Nath Singh, Vice Chancellor, Tezpur University said that animals are not mere statistics; but they represent sentient beings who experience emotions and pain, just like human beings. “Our empathy should extend beyond human boundaries, encompassing all living beings that coexist with us. Promoting street animal welfare aligns with our university’s core values of social responsibility and inclusivity,” Prof. Singh said.

Minister Pijush Hazarika expressed his heartfelt commitment to animal welfare and highlighted the government’s dedication to safeguarding the health and welfare of both animals and humans. He commended the efforts of all stakeholders involved in organizing the vaccination camp and emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in achieving a more compassionate society.
