Bongaigaon: The Pink Autos of Bongaigaon town is a special medium for communication for female passengers driven by female drivers only. Originally it was an initiative taken by the Government of India for female passengers and the motto of the scheme was just to protect the female passengers from being harassed and mistreated while traveling from one place to other places.

These Pink Autos started their services in Bongaigaon town on January 17, 2018 under the scheme of National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM). Initially, the number of Pink Autos was 13 and at present only 8 Pink Autos are running on the road. These Pink Autos are very popular among the female passengers.

On Thursday, these Pink Autos participated in a walkathon rally organized by the District Road Safety Committee, Bongaigaon to mark the celebration of the 32nd National Road Safety Month as well as to create road safety awareness among the road users in Bongaigaon district. Deputy Commissioner of Bongaigaon, Dr MS Lakshmi Priya was seen taking a pleasure ride in a Pink Auto on Thursday at Gandhi Maidan.
