DHUBRI: In this pandemic, Piramal Foundation, in collaboration and active support from Dhubri district administration, reached out to 18,444 senior citizens in district and is taking care of their well-being.
A source in Piramal Foundation said that COVID-19 was sparing no one but older people constitute the most vulnerable population among coronavirus victims. Talking to The Sentinel, Dhubri District Programme Manager of Piramal Foundation, Tanima Narayan informed that keeping in view the prevailing pandemic, Dhubri district administration, education department and Piramal Foundation jointly initiated a programme called 'Ek Tayohar, Buzurgon ka Samman' under the 'Surakshit Dada Dadi, Nana Nani Abhiyan' on August 21.
The objective behind the programme was to acknowledge and remember the elderly people for their contribution in the society, she said. Tanima Narayan said, "As a part of programme, students from different schools and colleges participated in a virtual painting exhibition by sharing their paintings. In the programme, elderly people too shared their videos and audios recalling their golden days."
Earlier, under the 'Surakshit Dada Dadi, Nana Nani Abhiyan', the team has reached out to 18,444 senior citizens with the support of volunteers by making them aware about COVID-19 and how to lead a safe and healthy life.
