GUWAHATI: The first Vande Bharat express for the NE was virtually flagged off by PM Modi. The semi-hi-speed train will run between Guwahati and New Jalpaiguri.
A premium semi-high-speed train service, the Vande Bharat Express is aesthetically pleasing and furnished with a variety of amenities, including complete air conditioning. The train will travel the 411 kilometers between Guwahati, Assam, and New Jalpaiguri, West Bengal, in approximately 5 hours and 30 minutes. Notably, this cuts down the existing shortest travel time provided by any train on this route significantly.
The recently electrified parts of New Bongaigaon--Dudhnoi--Mendipather and Guwahati--Chaparmukh were also dedicated to the country at the event, according to sources.
According to sources, the Vande Bharat Express would run six days a week, barring Tuesdays, and will serve the transportation requirements of IT professionals, businesspeople, students, and tourists alike.
The Vande Bharat Express serves as a symbol of Indian Railways' dedication to homegrown manufacturing under the "Make In India" campaign. Each train set costs about 110 crores and is produced by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF). The train set has an aerodynamic shape on both ends, which lowers air resistance and gives it a futuristic aspect.
The Vande Bharat Express maximizes the use of the onboard space with its eight coach chair car layouts, each of which can seat 530 passengers. Along with driving trailer coaches, it features executive and regular chair cars. According to sources, the train is fitted with cutting-edge safety technologies like the Centralised Coach Monitoring and Control System, driver-guard communication with audio recording, and the locally created Train Collision Avoidance System known as "KAVACH," providing the highest level of dependability.
People in the area will be able to travel by express train quickly and comfortably thanks to the introduction of the cutting-edge Vande Bharat Express in Assam. Additionally, it will increase tourism in the area.
Assam's Kamrup Metropolitan, Kamrup Rural, Nalbari, Barpeta, Chirang, and Kokrajhar districts, as well as North Bengal's Alipurduar, New Coochbehar, and Jalpaiguri districts, would be traversed by this train.
The inhabitants of this enormous region will be able to travel by contemporary rail in comfort. There will be eight carriages totaling 530 seats aboard the train. There will be one Executive Class, five Chair Cars, and two Driver Trail Coaches.
