Poachers Chopped Off Rhino Horn In Assam's Orang National Park

The whole incident came to light after a dehorned rhino was spotted at the Orang National Park which triggered panic among forest officials.

Guwahati: In a first-of-its-kind incident, Poachers on Thursday chopped off the horn of rhino in Assam's Orang National Park without killing the latter.

Reportedly, the whole incident came to light after a dehorned rhino was spotted at the Orang National Park which triggered panic among forest officials.

According to reports, earlier it appeared to be a case of territorial fight among the rhinos. However, after the veterinarian examined the rhino, it was discovered that there wasn't any injury to the Rhino.

Several media reports suspected that the horn was chopped off a few days back after tranquilizing the rhino.

However, forest departments are shocked and according to them so far no such incidents with this technique have taken place in the history of Orang National Park.

Meanwhile, the concerned departments have launched a search operation to apprehend the poachers.
