Police Seize Cattle-Laden Trucks In Goalpara

As cattle are frequently being taken from Simolitula area to the weekly market for trade, police have been carrying out search operations in the area.

Goalpara: Goalpara Police on Monday seized a herd of cattle from the Kamarpathar area.

Acting on a tip-off, the Simolitula police carried out an operation and seized two bolero pickups carrying 29 smuggled cattle.

Of two bolero pickups, one vehicle bear number AS 25 CC-8098 while the other vehicle was without a number.

Apart from this, police have also nabbed two persons named Hawal Khandkaar and Dilbar Haque in connection to the case.

According to reports, the cattle were being taken to Dhupdhora weekly market.

As cattle are frequently being taken from the Simolitula area to the weekly market for trade, police have been carrying out search operations in the area.

Meanwhile, a team of the East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) from the Jorabat Outpost under the Basistha Police Station on Sunday intercepted and detained a mini-truck that was carrying five live cattle.

According to police sources, two persons have been held for further questioning.
