Political parties gear up campaign for BTC poll in BTAD

All political parties have geared up political campaign for the forthcoming BTC election in BTAD.

GORESWAR: All political parties have geared up political campaign for the forthcoming BTC election in BTAD. Though the State Election Commission has not declared the date of the election, the Bodoland People's Front (BPF), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), United People's Party Liberal (UPPL), Gana Suraksha Party (GSP), Congress and independent candidates have started their election campaign. All the parties are trying their best to woo the voters.

A party meeting of the BJP was held at Goreswar Shishu Niketan on Saturday by BJP candidate Gajen Boro of Goreswar constituency and Ranendra Narzary of Suklai Serfang BTC constituency. Minister Bhabesh Kalita was present in the party meeting where hundreds of members joined the party.

On the other hand, a grand joining programme was also organized by BPF candidate Ganesh Kochary of Suklai- Serfang BTC constituency at his residence at Oubari village on Sunday. Around 1,064 new members joined the BPF in the programme. The former EM of BTC, Kanesh Kachary said that UPPL was playing cheap politics and alleged that Promod Boro was luring the people to get votes. He also said that Irrigation Minister Bhabesh Kalita had done nothing in the BTC constituencies which fell under his LAC.

Addressing the newcomers and BPF party workers, Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary said that in the upcoming BTC Polls, the BPF party would get the support of people for their developmental schemes and the BPF and its alliance would once again form the BTC government.

At Goreswar in Baksa district, Maheswar Basumatary, former BTC EM, has been holding group meetings in the villages to woo the voters. Pabitra Boro, the UPPL candidate of Goreswar BTC constituency, is also not lagging behind in the race. Independent candidate Suren Boro has also emerged as a threat to all other candidates in Goreswar BTC constituency.
