GOLAGHAT: Huge anomalies has allegedly taken place in construction of the paver block road in Rangajan-Halmira in Golaghat district.

The local people alleged substandard and low quality construction work. The construction of the 4-km road started four years ago. Due to alleged apathy and negligence on the part of the PWD (R), the Rangajan – Halmira connecting road is in a deplorable condition.

Potholes have developed in many places due to which there is risk of accident while travelling on this road. This bypass road connects Golgat town, Dergaon and Jorhat district and it is the lifeline for the people of the region. But the pathetic condition of the road has made life miserable for them.

In the year 2016, the then PWD minister Ajanta Neog had inaugurated the paver block bypass from Rongajan to Salmora connecting road. Along with the road, a steel bridge with length of 219-85 metre over Dhansiri River was also inaugurated. The total estimated amount was Rs 22 crore. The local people alleged that the construction group which received approval for construction of the road executed substandard work for which the condition of the road became deplorable within three years. The local people have demanded the authority concerned to immediately repair the road.
