Popular physician Dr. Bikash Das of Doomdooma passes away

Dr Bikash Das, a popular private physician of the town, died of COVID-19 at Max Hospital, New Delhi on Saturday.

DOOMDOOMA: Dr Bikash Das, a popular private physician of the town, died of COVID-19 at Max Hospital, New Delhi on Saturday. He was 72 and is survived by his wife and two daughters. After passing the HSLC examination from Doomdooma Bangiya Vidyalaya, he did his MBBS from Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh. Soon thereafter he started his private clinic at Nehru Road and later, set up Reliance Nursing Home at Bharat Bhumij Path. Dr Das was associated with a number of socio-cultural organisations. He was a member of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Doomdooma Branch, Doomdooma Bangiya Durgabari, Rotary Club of Doomdooma and the management committee of Doomdooma Bangiya Vidyalaya. As a president of Ramkrishna Sevashram, Doomdooma, he offered free treatment to the people once in a week for several years. His death cast a pall of gloom and was widely mourned by a number of organisations.
