Poshan Maah, Matru Vandana Saptah gets underway in Tinsukia

TINSUKIA: The POSHAN Maah and Matru Vandana Saptah in Tinsukia district got underway at no 2 Gellapukhuri AWC near Borguri GP office on Wednesday. Held under the aegis of Social Welfare department, the programme was inaugurated by Narsing Pawar, Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia, in presence of ASHA and Anganwadi workers.

Inaugurating the programme, Pawar said steps were being taken to enhance nutritional status of pregnant women as 40 per cent of women were found to be anaemic. Through this programme the socio-economic profile of women will be assayed which will assist in future course of action. The ASHA and Anganwadi workers will carry out extensive door-to-campaign to facilitate proper implementation of the programme, Pawar informed.
