JORHAT: The unprecedented crisis arising out of the dreaded coronavirus has adversely affected the marginal rural farmers living in rural and remote areas. Various organizations and kind-hearted individuals have come forward to provide essential food items. ‘Best Lady Farmer of the country’ award recipient and progressive farmer Nabanita Das of Potia Fokola Gaon in Jorhat district too came forward to stand beside the rural marginal farmers in this hour of crisis. With the active cooperation and help of her elder sister Junu Moni Das, ‘Pothar Konya’ Nabanita Das on Saturday met 60 rural marginal farmers of Chari Gaon No. 2, Natun Gohain Gaon and Purani Gohai Gaon near Nimati Ghat of Jorhat and extended a helping hand with packets of essential food commodities containing dal, potato, salt, mustard oil, biscuits and green vegetables.
“As a rural farmer I feel and realize the sufferings of my fellow rural marginal farmers in this hour of crisis and with support from my elder sister, I will continue my humble effort to the best of my limit and capacity,” said Nabanita Das while talking to The Sentinel.
