LAKHIMPUR: The electricity employees, engineers and pensioners on Thursday demonstrated four-hour-long sit-in in Lakhimpur in support of their various demand.
The agitation programme was organized at the office premises of the Sub-Divisional Engineer, North Lakhimpur Electrical Sub-Division under the banner of the Co-Ordination Committee of the Electricity Employees, Engineers and Pensioners, North Lakhimpur unit.
By staging the protest programme as per instruction of the central committee, the organization, demanded the government to stop the privatization of the power sector, to withdraw the anti-worker policies, to withdraw the new pension policies and to retain the old pension policies. The protesters displayed placards in support of their demands and submitted a memorandum to the higher authority.
