GUWAHATI: Pijush Hazarika the minister of
parliamentary affairs, Information, public relation of Assam has accused the Congress
party along with Nagaon MP and former state industry minister Pradyut Bordoloi
for destroying paper mills in Nagao and Cachar district of Assam.
"Our government didn't ask the employees of paper mills to vacate the premises. We can't even talk above the courts but Pradyut Bordoloi can. What is happening is only following the order of the court", he said.
He however claimed that 95% of people welcomed the decision of compensation but 5% of people are protesting against it.
"Those who are protesting the compensation are being influenced by the Congress and provoking them to create problems for others. They want to extend the problem in the coming days. During the Congress government in Assam when Pradyut Bordoloi was the industry minister of the state, they purchased coal and bamboo at higher rates for the paper mills. During that time Congress was in state and as well as in centre too. Congress and Pradyut Bordoloi is responsible for the destruction of both paper mills", minister Hazarika stated.
Meanwhile, MASS (Manab Adhikar Sangram Samiti) has called upon the State Government to fulfill all the demands raised by the employees of Nagaon and Cachar Paper Mills. MASS president Aditya Lahkar and secretary Raju Singha made this appeal to the government through a press communique on Sunday. Through the same press communique, the organization termed the notice issued to all the employees of Nagaon and Cachar Paper Mills to vacate the quarters within 15 days as "tyrannical, non-humanitarian and anti-indigenous". This notice was issued to them on September 3, by liquidator Kuldeep Bamai, appointed by the 'National Company Law Tribunal'.
