Prapti Medhi Becomes 1st From Assam To Win National Silver In Roller Skating

Assam’s girl Prapti Medhi wins Silver Medal in the ongoing National Roller Skating Championships conducted by the Roller Skating Federation of India from 11 December and to end on 22 December.

GUWAHATI: It is a moment of pride for Assam as well as for the entire Northeast that Prapti Medhi from Assam becomes the first and only person from Assam, Northeast to win a silver medal in the ongoing 59th National Roller Skating Championships.

Medhi secured the second position in the 500 meters ring race by competing in the race with a time duration of 56.62 seconds. In the national level Skating Championships Medhi successfully became the only person to gain victory in national level rolling skating competition.

She is also the first skater who bagged a silver medal from the region of Eastern India. Before the win of Prapti, there was no medal that came to the region earlier. 

At present, the National Championships organized by the Roller Skating Federation of India are going on in the Indian states of Chandigarh, Delhi and Punjab. The event has started on 11 December 2021 and is scheduled to end by 22 December 2021. A group of 25 young skaters of the Roller Skating Association of Assam participated in the national championships held in three states of India.

More than 3500 skaters are participating in the 59th National Roller Skating Championship representing different states of the country. Jesnia Correa representing the state of Karnataka wins a gold medal in the roller skating competition held nationally in Delhi. She is a class 5 student of Mount Carmel Central School (MCCS), Mangalore.

Earlier this year in 2020, Silver medalist Prapti Medhi belonging from Assam won a bronze medal in the category of girl's sub-junior quad stake in the 58th National Roller Skating Championship.
