JORHAT: Pre-Christmas celebration was organized at the Borbheta Baptist Church jointly by the United Christian Forum, which is functioning since over two decades as an umbrella forum of all churches and Christian institutes of Jorhat. Various guests from Jorhat town and office bearers of United Christian Forum (UCF) representing the Christian community participated in the programme.
Amiyo Barua, president of UCF, offered Christmas greetings and expressed hope that people live in peace and harmony sharing the brotherly love taught by Jesus Christ. Rev Sarat Sharma, adviser to UCF, Jorhat offered special prayer for world peace. Christian priests from the churches of Jorhat offered prayers for peace. The YMCA School of Music presented beautiful songs and hymns.
Few individuals were specially felicitated in the event for their significant contribution to the society. Those felicitated were Sister Cherubim, MC, Sister Superior, Mother Teresa Missionary of Charity, Sister Monica AC, Principal of Carmel School, Dr. Senorita Sangma Singh, Medical Superintendent, Jorhat Christian Medical Centre, and Father Regimani, SDB, Principal, Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Baghchung, Jorhat.
