Kokrajhar: As Christmas is approaching, carol service began with car and bike rally from Kokrajhar town to Karigaon via Jwhwlao Dwimalu Road. A car rally was taken out in Kokrajhar to coincide with the pre-Christmas celebration at Kokrajhar Town Baptist Church complex in the heart of Kokrajhar town on Tuesday. Christian devotees and followers in large numbers from different churches joined in the carol dance with traditional musical instruments.
Arun Basumatary, church leader, said that the car rally was organized for the first time this year as earlier there was only house-to-house singing and dancing. People from different communities, took part in the pre-Christmas celebration with traditional attire and traditional musical instruments. Young devotees presented carol dance, prayer songs in English, Bodo and other languages during the celebration.
Speaker of the carol Christmas service, Rev. Nitananda Borgoyary, Bishop of Lutern Church, said in his massage, “We celebrate Christmas because God sent his only one begotten Jesus Christ to save sinners, God did not send his son to punish, judge this earth but sent him to give eternal life to those who believe that they will get eternal life.” The president and secretary of Boro Baptist Church Association (BBCA) Dr. Arjun Basumatary and A. Basumatary, Rev Dhojen Basumatary, secretary of the Gospel fellowship BBCA, and Abraham Moshahary, president of Youth Committee, were present in the pre-Christmas celebration.
