DEMOW: Considering the steady increase and latest surge of active COVID-19 cases in some districts of the State, the ADM (Additional District Magistrate) of Sivasagar — Junumoni Sonowal — on April 20 issued an order to close down all the LP (Lower Primary) schools (both Government and Non-Government) up to Class V, including the pre-primary schools.

The order has been issued under Sections 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33 and 34 of the 'Disaster Management Act-2005'.

This order, having prior approval of Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Bishnu Kamal Borah, has come into force with immediate effect and will remain in force until further orders.

It may be noted that the State Government had issued a notification on April 17, 2021, to this effect for those districts where the Deputy Commissioner as Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) is satisfied that the number of active COVID-19 cases has crossed the 100 mark.
