Preparations underway for Gunotsav-2023 in Tinsukia district

DOOMDOOMA: Preparations for the fourth Gunotsav-2023 to assess the quality of school education through external evaluation are on in full swing in the Tinsukia district. This year, the Gunotsav will be conducted in 1,135 government/privatized primary schools, 122 tea estate authority-run schools and 110 secondary-level schools, including Adarsha Vidyalayas and Kasturba Gandhi Girls' Schools in tea estate areas in the district.

Of these, 1,38,347 students in classes I to VIII and 11,135 students in classes IX will sit for the external assessment. On February 1, each school will conduct a self-assessment of the academic performance of the students and the academic infrastructure etc. of the school in collaboration with the School Management and development committees. The entire external evaluation process will be conducted in the presence of external evaluators in each school on February 2, February 3 and February 4.

This assessment will cover the basic reading skills of the students as well as the subject-based learning skills. For this purpose, training of liaison officers and nodal teachers deployed by the education department to perform various duties has already been completed at sector level. Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Manjit Barkakati formally inaugurated the training of external evaluators at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner (DC)'s office, Tinsukia on Wednesday. He congratulated everyone and urged them to participate in the external evaluation process organized by the education department.

The training was conducted by Margherita Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer (Sugarcane) Rajit Dutta, District Planning Officer of Comprehensive Education, Tridib Sharma Tamuli and Zonal Resource Person, Bipul Upadhyay.

The external evaluation process will be conducted by the Indian Civil Service, Indian Forest Service, Assam Civil Service, Government Class I and II officers, professors of colleges and universities and distinguished elected representatives of the State Assembly and Lok Sabha.
