Principal-columnist Dr Suresh Dutta elected to Dibrugarh University Executive Council

Dr Suresh Dutta, Principal of Panigaon OPD College, a leading higher academic institution of Lakhimpur district has been elected to the Executive Council of the Dibrugarh University (DU) under Section 17(viii) of D.U. Act. 1965.

LAKHIMPUR: Dr Suresh Dutta, Principal of Panigaon OPD College, a leading higher academic institution of Lakhimpur district has been elected to the Executive Council of the Dibrugarh University (DU) under Section 17(viii) of D.U. Act. 1965. He has been elected in place of Dr Dip Saikia, the Principal of Digboi College under the Tinsukia district.

The Registrar-in charge of the Dibrugarh University on June 6 issued notification for the election of the regular Principals of the Affiliated Degree Colleges (Provincialized and Government Model Colleges) to the Executive Council of the university as per provision of Section 17 (viii), Dibrugarh University Act, 1965 due to expiry of the term of Dr Dip Saikia, the Principal of the Digboi College.

Dr Manjit Gogoi, the Principal of Jhanji Hemnath Sarma College, Sivasagar, Dr Suresh Dutta, the Principal of Panigaon OPD College, Lakhimpur and Dr Chaytanya Bora, the Principal of Tinsukia Commerce College, Tinsukia were the contestants of the election as their nomination papers were found valid as per the notification issued in this regard. The Registrar-in charge declared the result of the election on Friday. Dr Suresh Dutta is also a noted columnist. A number of his articles on Economics and socio-economic problems along with national and State budget analysis have been published in various newspapers and journals of the State and outside. His well-wishers have congratulated him for the achievement.
