Guwahati: With just less than a month left for the Assam Assembly Elections 2021, political parties have been visiting Assam in a loop.

As per recent developments, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will visit Assam on Monday (March 1) to campaign for party candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections slated to be held from March 27.

Vadra who will kickstart the party's campaigning here in Assam will visit several districts during her two-day visit to the state.

Reportedly, her first stop will be at Guwahati where she will visit the Kamakhya Temple, following which she will be attending interaction programmes on the first day. She is later scheduled to address a rally on March 2 in Tezpur.

The Election Commission of India has recently announced the dates of the Assam Assembly Elections 2021, which will be held in three phases on March 27, April 1 and April 2. The counting of the election to the 126 seats of the Assam Assembly will take place on May 2.

Earlier, this month Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also visited the state and cleared the party's stand on the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019. Gandhi while addressing a gathering at Sivasagar asserted that the Congress party will defend the Assam Accord and resist the CAA.

After Rahul Gandhi highlighted the CAA as the main agenda from the Congress party's side, the leaders from the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) have waged a war against the ruling party over the CAA.

The Congress party in Assam further initiated the 'Axom Basaon Ahok' campaign with an objective to highlight the 'failures' of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state.

Meanwhile, the Congress party who has announced a 'grand alliance' with the AIUDF, the CPI, the CPI (M), the CPI (ML), and the Anchalik Gana Morcha, got the support of Bodoland People's Front (BPF).

After being ditched by the saffron party, the BPF has decided to exit the NDA-led BJP government and join the 'Grand Alliance' or the 'Mahajooth'.

"To work for peace, unity and development, the BPF has decided to join hands with the 'Mahajath' in the forthcoming Assam Assembly elections," party chief Hagrama Mohilary tweeted.

Moreover, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) is planning to enter the electoral fray in Assam. RJD chief Tejashwi Yadav reached Guwahati on February 27 and has been conducting meetings with the 'Grand Alliance' and scheduled to hold more meetings.
