SILCHAR: Prof Rajive Mohan Pant has been appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of Assam University, Silchar. P K Singh, Under Secretary of Education Ministry in a letter to the Registrar of Assam University on Friday said that President of India in his capacity as the visitor of this central university had appointed Prof Pant as the new Vice Chancellor of AUS.
Pant is presently the professor in Centre for Management Studies of North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology, Arunachal Pradesh. The term of outgoing Vice Chancellor Prof Dilip Chandra Nath had expired in May last year, but due to COVID-19 crisis, the appointment of the new vice chancellor was delayed. Prof Pant was the director of National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Guwahati, from 2014 to 2021.
Pant would be the eighth Vice chancellor of this premier institute which was established in 1994.
